The Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University University Protocol Executive Committee (ÜPYK) Meeting was held under the chairmanship of our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin DALGAR.

 

Mr. Yusuf KEYİK, President of Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Hasan Yalçın MEÇİKOĞLU, President of Bucak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ömer Faruk GÜNDÜZALP, President of Burdur Commodity Exchange, the Coordinator of Vocational Schools and Assistant Coordinators, chamber representatives, and vocational school directors attended the meeting.

 

In his opening speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin DALGAR stated that strengthening university-industry collaboration, popularizing applied education models, and preparing students for the workforce before graduation are among the university's primary goals. He expressed that the ongoing efforts contribute to regional development, support the training of qualified human resources, and increase the employability of graduates.

 

During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was made by the Vocational Schools Coordination regarding the activities carried out in our university's vocational schools. The presentation included: the current status of applied education, internships, and vocational training processes in businesses, department/program-sector matching studies, new program openings and program update activities, efforts for part-time employment of students in sectors, scholarship processes, and the activities of Program Executive Committees (PYK).

 

Additionally, the presentation shared the work conducted regarding accredited programs within the quality-focused development process of our vocational schools, ongoing accreditation applications, programs that have undergone transformation, and name changes made in line with thematic studies. Furthermore, the committee members were informed about the protocols carried out within the applied education model, sector collaborations, and activities aimed at updating educational programs.

 

Continuing the meeting, Mr. Yusuf KEYİK, President of Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Hasan Yalçın MEÇİKOĞLU, President of Bucak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Ömer Faruk GÜNDÜZALP, President of Burdur Commodity Exchange, shared their evaluations and the expectations of the business world. Sector representatives expressed their views and suggestions regarding the more effective matching of departments and programs with businesses, the development of applied education processes, increasing opportunities for students to gain work experience, and further strengthening university-industry collaborations.

 

Additionally, the meeting evaluated the department/program-sector matching studies conducted in the Spring Semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year, new program proposals and program updates, activities aimed at developing part-time work opportunities for students in relevant sectors, and scholarship processes. The periodic activity reports of the Program Executive Committees (PYK) were discussed, addressing issues encountered during the implementation process and evaluating proposed solutions.

 

The meeting concluded with the emphasis on the determination to continue efforts to further develop collaboration between the university and the industry, strengthen applied education processes, and support the professional development of students in line with an employment-oriented education approach, followed by wishes and hopes.
